Fight Summary | The way I see it | How I would bet on the fight

Fight Summary:
Alexander Alexeev takes on Denis Lebedev in a 12 round cruiserweight title eliminator from Germany on Saturday.

The way I see it:

Alexeev was a former 2004 Olympian and a 2005 former world amateur champion. He’s a tall southpaw that began his pro ledger by destroying everything in his path. But he was shocked by Argeninean strongman Victor Emilio Ramirez and ceded after 9 rounds of action. It seems Alexeev got physically and mentally drained when he couldn’t get rid of Ramirez and paid the price. He has 3 ins since that tough loss.

Lebedev is somewhat of a mystery. I don’t know a lot about his history other than he is a dangerous man and can fight. He turned pro as a light heavyweight in 2001 and reeled off 13 straight wins. But he left the sport for 5 years, returning as a cruiserweight in 2008.

And he’s already got some good scalps on his record, such as Enzo Maccarinelli, Ali Ismailov and Ignacio Esparza. He’s certainly acting like a guy that doesn’t want to waste any more time. And now he takes on another quality guy in Alexeev.

Lebedev looks somewhat unassuming and is not particularly large framed or tall. But the lefty has been a terror since he came back to boxing. He has underrated speed and looks to walk opponents down. He appears to have a solid skill set and punishing hands. It seems when he gets someone in his sights, he cuts them down with relative ease.

Both fighters have good ability. Alexeev is probably the better technical boxer but I think Lebedev is abit stronger and more naturally aggressive. And I get a sense that Lebedev may be the more steely fighter and if it comes down to a war of attrition, he’ll be the guy that comes out on top.

I expect that Lebedev will look to do business as soon as possible with Alexeev boxing more. But I think After a few rounds, a fight will began to emerge and I think Lebedev may be able to break down Alexeev over time with his tenacity and dangerous power punches. I’m going with a Lebedev to win, perhaps somewhere around the 9th round.

How I would bet on the fight:
I'm putting 3% of the BoxingForecast fund on a Lebedev win.

4 news picks are in for the weekend, all of those fights are on Saturday and across the pond.

"I've never seen a more consistently successful tipster in any sport in all the time I have been betting. Most of them seem to promise a lot and never deliver or start out well and then go downhill rapidly. Your selections though just keep getting better every week.” - Peter H. - U.K.
"I have been betting on boxing for quite some time but I have completely stopped making picks myself, im a sucker for the favorites and have been getting much much better returns from your picks, its all about the longer term and anyone can see from your results that in the long run its been excellent.” - Mike L - U.K.
