Why Boxing Betting?

Introduction to Boxing Betting

Many years ago boxing betting was a huge part of the gambling action in this country and around the world. Over time unfortunately, the sport fell into disrepute, as negative publicity suggesting criminal influence and fixed fights took their toll on public interest and gambler confidence. In recent years, although the sport has largely cleaned up its act, team sports betting has overtaken boxing betting as a focus of attention for fans interested in wagering on sports. And today, except for a few high-profile fights, boxing betting is largely overlooked in the world of boxing betting.

Very few people are aware of the hundreds of fights in all weight classes that take place around the world every week. It's easier for the average guys to bet on team sports because they he understands the game, whereas most people who watch boxing have no idea how to assess the fighters. As a result, they bet on the sports they are familiar with and follow what their friends are doing. Yet surprisingly, boxing betting can be one of the most profitable and rational wagers in sports betting - if done right! Unlike football and most other popular sports there is no season in boxing, so boxing betting opportunities occur continuously throughout the year. Also, boxing is not a team sport, which makes handicapping a fight much less complex. And point-spreads in the big-game sports reduce the opportunities to leverage your wagers by betting against the odds. Not so in boxing betting.

Boxing Betting Vs. Football Betting

While football may offer a money line as boxing does, most people bet on the point spread. By doing that you generally must bet $110 to win $100. So you are getting slightly worse than even money on every football bet. With boxing betting, I frequently find value in matches where the return can be 200% or more. Let's say that you bet $500 on two fights at + 300 (that's 3 to one odds against you) and you win one and lose one. You would win $1500 on one and lose $500 on the other. You still walk away with a net gain of $1000. Now in football you might lay $550 to win $500. Let's say you win one and lose one. You'll end up down $50 for your trouble.

So, simply stated, boxing betting offers a far greater opportunity to make money – at a lower level of risk - as long as you wager intelligently, and avail yourself of the enormous amount of data that is available to make well-informed picks.

Sources of Information for Boxing Betting

With the Internet at your fingertips, there is a wealth of information available about boxing contestants to help a diligent boxing betting handicapper evaluate possible outcomes. There are websites such as BoxRec.com that will tell you everything you need to know about every fighter's record, and other sites that offer enough observations and opinions on boxing match-ups and contestants to make your head spin. But make no mistake, gathering and digesting this information requires years of experience, long hours of careful study, and the ability to put emotion aside to make well-thought-out, rational boxing predictions.

The casual bettor has no time for this kind of in-depth analysis, and that's where BoxingForecast.com comes in. Not a day that goes by that I don't think about boxing, research individual boxers, study fight histories, or watch fights live or on TV. I've been doing it for twenty-five years – and loving it! The result is the kind of careful analysis and clear-headed predictions that can make boxing betting work for you!

My motto is "I do the work – YOU make the money."

We had a solid, overall winning weekend riding the wave of 2 underdog plays in Glasgow, Scotland on Saturday.

Stephen Smith was able to nip tough John Simpson and brave 4-1 underdog Ricky Burns was able to shock Roman Martinez in a grueling see saw battle. Great win for Burns, copping the WBO super featherweight crown in the process.

New picks coming later in the week with an interesting schedule of bouts to review.

"I've never seen a more consistently successful tipster in any sport in all the time I have been betting. Most of them seem to promise a lot and never deliver or start out well and then go downhill rapidly. Your selections though just keep getting better every week.” - Peter H. - U.K.
"I have been betting on boxing for quite some time but I have completely stopped making picks myself, im a sucker for the favorites and have been getting much much better returns from your picks, its all about the longer term and anyone can see from your results that in the long run its been excellent.” - Mike L - U.K.

Smith catches up with Crawford, stops him in the 9th
Antwone Smith scored a 9th round stoppage over previously undefeated Henry Crawford on Showtime Friday night at the First Council Casino, Newkirk, Oklahoma. Smith was only a slight favorite to win and I know many thought Crawford had a very good chance to win. I picked Smith, believing he'd he too busy and consistent for Crawford.
